Topix Bear Turns Clock Back to 1983 As Japan Stocks Slide

Amazingly the Japanese Topix is at the lowest level since 1983. While Japan’s economy has been struggling for the last two decades, this is more of a lesson on what happens when you invest in a bubble the size of Japan’s in the late mid to late 1980’s.  With stocks trading at just over .8 times book value I’d have to believe there are some pretty attractive opportunities.  Japan’s debt situation however is really scary so an investor must be very disciplined in their research.
