Saturday marks an important day as euro-zone officials and EU finance ministers will discuss how to support Spain. Spain’s banks need to be recapitalized and the government and at the current borrowing costs Spain must look outside for help. These piecemeal bailouts do nothing to inspire confidence which is one of the major problems in Europe. It would be far more helpful to engineer a much broader solution such as euro-bonds and a unified banking system.
