Below is a really fascinating article about the path that both Todd Combs and Ted Weschler took to become the investment lieutenants to Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway.  Both men have done a stellar job thus far and seem to have the intangible characteristics to really fit into the Berkshire culture.  It is very much like Buffett and Munger to select managers that weren’t the biggest names out there, but it is also important to keep in mind that many money managers probably could make more outside of working with Berkshire.  The story of how Combs met Munger and then was introduced to Buffett is really fascinating to me.  The article is from earlier in the year but it is certainly worth your time.
